Tombstone's "Mother Lode" of Saloons

Inside the Dragoon Saloon. The friendly bartender pictured is Carey, at your service. Photo by Webmaster.

Tombstone has a great wealth of drinking establishments. I would guess that alcohol serves up probably at least 25% of the town's economy. It's BIG business in Tombstone.

Trying to decide where you'd like to park yourself for a few hours of drinking can be a somewhat arduous task, since there's such an abundance of watering holes to choose from. It is therefore important to know what you're looking for in the way of amenities.

I have had the extreme pleasure of hanging out in every single drinking place in town at one time or another. Here is a quick breakdown of the saloons, as published by the Tombstone Office of Tourism.

Big Nose Kate's - Once the famous Grand Hotel, and still in the original building, "Big Nose" Kate Elder was the lady friend of the famous John Henry "Doc" Holliday. Today, the bar serves up food, drinks, and fun. Kate's has HUGE margaritas, friendly staff, and live music. About midway down Allen between 4th & 5th on the south side. (520) 457-3107

Crazy Annie's Saloon - Crazy Annie's Bordello, Bed and Breakfast & Saloon just recently opened across the street from Ringo's Bar. The owners are very friendly. NW corner of 10th & Allen. (520) 457-3847

Crystal Palace Saloon - Authentically restored to its 1880 appearance when it was Tombstone's most popular meeting place. There is frequently live music at the Crystal Palace by popular bands such as Train Wreck, from Bisbee, AZ, and local talent like Night Life. NW corner of 5th & Allen. (520) 457-3611

Ringo's Bar - Drink where the locals drink in Tombstone's only sports bar. Plenty of free parking. NE corner of 10th & Allen. (520) 457-3961

Silver Nugget Saloon - Cold beer, wine and spirits. Great fun and friendly people! Karaoke on Saturday nights. NW corner of 5th & Allen. (520) 457-9223

Six Gun City Restaurant & Saloon - Watch live western shows while enjoying your meal or drinks. Also open evenings for dinner, Wednesday through Sunday. NE corner of 5th & Toughnut. (520) 457-3827

Vogan's Alley Bar - Restored 1880 bar in its original location serving beer, wine and good food. Best ½-pound burger in town. Near the SW corner of 5th & Allen. (520) 457-3101
